The Libyan government is one of a provisional parliamentary republic, their current president is Mohammed Magariaf. The formation of Libya started in 1947 when they were relinquished by Italy, in 1951 on the 24th of December they gained their independence from the british and the French, in 1969 Muammar Gaddafi came into power up until 2011. Today, the date 17th February has become known as Revolution day.
