Africa Cup of Nations: less than 50 days to go Almost 3 years after hosting the World Cup 2010 South Africa will provide the stage for another big event: the Africa Cup of Nations. The country received a lot of praise for the success of the World Cup and is looking forward to hosting the 29th edition of the ACoN, although it will be a much harder task to fill stadia during the upcoming event. Thus tickets will be priced sensibly, since otherwise most people couldn’t afford them.
Violent protests over President Mursi’s extended power A decree announced last Thursday giving President Mursi new powers, sparked violent protests, a sharp drop in the Egyptian stock market and the call for nationwide strikes. Mohammed Mursi claims that these new powers were only temporary and will meet with senior judges to settle the crisis, since the decree was only installed while a new constitution was being drafted and it should prevent democratically elected bodies from being undermined.
