Botswana gained their independence in 1966 from the United Kingdom. However, they were not directly colonised they were being prepared for independence to put it in simple terms. Today botswana is home to 6 different ethnic groups and are being run by Ian Khama, great history behind the name Khama. The government is one of a Parliamentary republic. They have a fairly high GDP per Capita of $16.029.
